Effect of starch fat ratio in cows diet on rumen fermentation and milk yields
I. M. Tkach
Replacement of 2 kg wheat-oat grain by 1 kg sunflower cake in cows' diet on rumen fermentation, milk yields and milk protein and fat contents were investigated. Both diets were isocaloric. Concentration of protein nitrogen increased and concentration of microbial protein and ammonia in the rumen fluid of experimental cows decreased. Lactate concentration reduced twice and pH rose from 6,33 to 6,72. Total volatile fatty acids concentration in both groups' rumen fluids was similar but in cows of experimental group lower content of propionate, isobutyrate, isovaleriate and valeriate were found. The yields increased by 7 %.
