Effect of dietary selenium on antioxidant enzymes activity in cows milk

N. V. Golova

Influence of supplementation cows diet with sodium selenite and selenium methionine in doses of 0,2 or 0,5 ppm (as elementary selenium) on milk antioxidant status are presented in this article. Glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activity in milk rose with increasing of selenium quantity. The effect of selenium methionine was more potent comparatively to effect of sodium selenite. Catalase activity was stimulated by both doses of selenium methionine supplementation whereas sodium selenite done only in the dose of 0,5 ppm.
