Influence of dietary starch to sugar correlation and sodium bicarbonate supplementation on VFA production in cows rumen
I. M. Tkach
Influence of dairy cows keeping fed different of starch and sugar correlation in the rations with or without 1 % of DM sodium bicarbonate addition were investigated.
VFA concentration increased in the rumen fluid of cows supplemented with sodium bicarbonate. Addition of sodium bicarbonate decreased concentration of propionate in the rumen fluid of cows which received diet with higher content of starch and did not influence on propionate concentration in the rumen of cow fed ration with higher part of sugar. Supplementation of both cows' ration with sodium bicarbonate increased concentration of ruminal isobutyrate isovaleriate and elevated pH from 6,6-6,7 to 6,9-7,1.
