The data on mitochondria endogenous oxygen consumption, lipid peroxidation (lipid hydroperoxides, malone dialdehyd) and prion-protein zone proteins in prolate brain of cattle in natal and postnatal period have beed represented. Decrease in mitochondria respiratory activity and maintenance of prion-protein zone proteins and increase in lipid peroxidation products level in the brain of 4-7-year-old cows compared to saplings (12-15 mon.) and cattle embrio have been detected, which can determine propensity of full age cows to bovine spongioform encephalopathy development.
